Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a temporary lane closure on US 171 Southbound, affecting traffic from Fitzenreiter Road to Hagan Street in Lake Charles. This closure will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, starting Monday, October 14, 2024, through Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

The right lane of US 171 will be closed to facilitate essential maintenance work, specifically a process known as “mill and overlay.” This procedure involves removing a layer of the existing roadway surface and replacing it with new asphalt. The intent is to enhance the road’s condition and ensure a safer driving experience for the public.

Motorists are advised to be prepared for potential delays and to seek alternate routes if possible during the closure times.
