Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Lake Charles City Council has recently adopted a resolution accepting substantial completion of a comprehensive citywide sidewalk construction package. This capital improvement project, which consisted of a series of sidewalk projects spread throughout the city, aimed to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility for residents.
To commemorate the completion of one of the project’s key sections, Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter and Councilman Mark Eckard joined city staff, project engineers, and contractors at a section of the project on Nelson Road. This newly constructed sidewalk is particularly significant, as it increases pedestrian safety for residents, especially school-aged youth who travel this area daily now that school is back in session.
The citywide sidewalk construction package is a vital investment in the city’s infrastructure, as it addresses the need for safe and accessible pedestrian pathways. By providing a network of sidewalks, the city can reduce the risk of pedestrian-related incidents and promote a healthier, more walkable community.
