LAKE CHARLES, LA — The City of Lake Charles has announced an upcoming two-month closure of Enterprise Boulevard between 6th and 8th Streets as part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement project.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, both north and southbound lanes will be completely closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The closure is scheduled to continue until 8 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025, weather permitting.
The work is part of “Capital Project No. 3277 – Enterprise Blvd. Reconstruction – 12th St. to Broad St.,” a multi-year initiative that encompasses significant infrastructure upgrades. The comprehensive project includes drainage improvements, sidewalk enhancements, and complete reconstruction and overlay of the roadway.
City officials have designated 1st Avenue as the recommended detour route for through traffic during the construction period. While local traffic will still have access to the area, the city is strongly encouraging drivers to use the established detour to minimize congestion around the construction zone.
Property owners and residents in the vicinity who have questions or concerns about the project can contact city officials directly. The engineering department has established an email address, [email protected], for inquiries and for those who wish to receive project updates directly to their inbox.
This closure represents one phase in the larger Enterprise Boulevard improvement project that aims to enhance both infrastructure reliability and road safety throughout one of Lake Charles’ key transportation corridors.
