Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a series of full closures for Interstate 210 westbound (I-210 WB) in Lake Charles as crews continue to work to repair lighting damaged by Hurricane Laura. The closures will take place starting at Exit 3, affecting motorists traveling through this critical corridor.

Closure Schedule and Details

Drivers should expect full closures of I-210 WB on the following dates and times:

  • From 9 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, to 4 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2025
  • From 9 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, to 4 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025
  • From 9 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, to 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025
  • From 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025

These full closures are necessary for the ongoing repair of lighting infrastructure, which sustained significant damage during Hurricane Laura. The affected area includes the Prien Lake Bridge, a major route linking communities and businesses within Calcasieu Parish.

What Motorists Need to Know

During the closure times, all westbound lanes will be inaccessible between Exit 3 and Mile Marker 1. The Cove Lane exit will remain open. The DOTD urges drivers to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

In addition, a continuous left lane closure along I-210 WB from Exit 3 to Mile Marker 1 is expected outside of the scheduled full closures. An 11-foot width restriction will be enforced throughout the project, so oversized vehicles should plan accordingly.

Project Timeline and Safety Information

Kiewit Louisiana Co. is overseeing the repairs, and the overall project is scheduled for completion by fall 2025, weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, observe posted signs, and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
