Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced upcoming overnight lane and ramp closures on Interstate 10 Westbound in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to allow for roadway and safety repairs.
According to DOTD, the right and center lanes of I-10 Westbound near Milepost 31.2, in the area of Enterprise Boulevard in Lake Charles, will be closed from 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. The work zone will affect traffic traveling westbound through this portion of Calcasieu Parish.
During the same time period, the Enterprise Boulevard and Kirkman Street I-10 Westbound on-ramps will also be closed. Drivers who normally use these ramps to enter I-10 Westbound will need to follow marked detours.
DOTD states the closure is necessary so crews can perform repairs to the guardrail and asphalt roadway.
All work is weather permitting, meaning poor weather conditions could delay, extend, or reschedule the planned closures. No alternate dates have been announced in the event of weather impacts.
Detour Route For Motorists
During the closure, motorists needing access to I-10 Westbound in the Lake Charles area can use the following detour route, as provided by DOTD:
- Motorists may detour via Church Street and Lakeshore Drive to access I-10 Westbound.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, especially those commuting late Sunday evening or early Monday morning, and to pay close attention to any posted construction signs or lane-shift markings near Milepost 31.2.
