Lake Charles, Louisiana - Lake Charles Police issued a traffic alert at approximately 9 p.m., urging motorists to avoid the westbound lanes of the Interstate 10 Calcasieu River Bridge due to a stalled 18-wheeler. The duration of the closure remains unknown as of publication. Authorities recommend drivers seek alternate routes to reduce delays.

The incident, which disabled a large commercial vehicle on the bridge, has caused significant disruption to traffic flow. Stalled 18-wheelers, because of their size, can block multiple lanes and contribute to traffic congestion, particularly on important highway corridors like I-10 in Lake Charles.

Motorists are advised to use detours, such as the I-210 Loop, which is commonly recommended during other closures and maintenance activities involving the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge, though be aware that the I-210 bridge may also have delays due to the current lighting project.

Emergency personnel and towing services are working to resolve the situation and restore normal traffic, but delays should be expected until further notice.
