Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission has organized an upcoming event for National Vietnam War Veterans Day. This event will take place on Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m., at Veterans Memorial Park, situated on the north side of the Lake Charles Event Center grounds.
The event aims to pay tribute to the brave United States Armed Forces Vietnam War Veterans. Colonel Rose Freeman, Commander of the 32D Hospital Center at Fort Johnson, will be a guest speaker at the event. To show gratitude and appreciation, members of the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission will present official 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War lapel pins to Vietnam Veterans who are present at the event and have not yet received this recognition. This special presentation ceremony will be held after the program.
The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration defines a Vietnam War Veteran as any United States Armed Forces personnel who actively served between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of their location of service.
After the ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy provided refreshments. The public is encouraged to attend this meaningful event. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be shifted to American Legion Post 1, located at 1530 9th St. in Lake Charles.
