Lake Charles Homicide: Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Investigates Death on Highway 90

Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of an unresponsive man on the side of Highway 90 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, late Sunday night. Deputies responded to the 6700 block of Highway 90 at approximately 11:00 p.m. on June 29 after receiving reports of a male lying on the roadside. Upon arrival, deputies identified the victim as Kalin J. Stevens, 23, of Lake Charles.

Sheriff Stitch Guillory confirmed that the nature of the evidence at the scene prompted authorities to treat the case as a homicide. "To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are not releasing many details at this time, but we do have enough evidence to treat this as a homicide," Guillory stated. He noted that investigators are actively gathering more information to piece together the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Detectives continue to interview multiple witnesses and are analyzing evidence collected from the scene. The sheriff’s office has urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact them at 337-491-3605. Detective Shane Broussard has been assigned as the lead investigator in the case.
