New, Next-Generation Gateway Restaurant Will Add 145 Jobs to the Local Community
The restaurant will open its doors to guests on Thursday, January 9 at 10:30 a.m.

LAKE CHARLES, LA, January 6, 2020: Golden Corral is excited to officially announce its arrival to Lake Charles: Louisiana’s Playground! The nation’s largest grill-buffet restaurant chain will officially open to guests on Thursday, January 9, at 211 West Prien Lake Rd. This new Golden Corral restaurant has created 145 new jobs for the local community.

“We’re honored to call a vibrant and culturally rich city like Lake Charles home,” said Hal Ware, General Manager of the new Golden Corral restaurant. “We’re excited for the opportunity to elevate the buffet-dining experience for local residents and the thousands of visitors who visit this flourishing city for entertainment and adventure.”

The goal of the Gateway restaurant’s new design is to provide an inviting atmosphere for Golden Corral’s guests to create new memories with their family and loved ones. The 10,400 square-foot restaurant will seat more than 365 customers and include private event space.

The dining room features an endless buffet, including hot-off-the-grill steaks served at dinner, a build-your-own-salad bar, a variety of slow-smoked meats, and decadent desserts. The new restaurant offers guests a unique buffet dining experience with a stacked stone fireplace, contemporary décor, comfortable and varied seating options, as well as an all-new buffet area with an enhanced carvery and design elements that resemble a residential kitchen.
The restaurant offers lunch, dinner, Friday and weekend breakfast, kids pricing and the popular Senior Early Bird discount Monday – Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm for adults 60+.

On September 25, 2018, Golden Corral posted openings for a general manager and kitchen manager position in Lake Charles. Those positions, as well as the position of Hospitality Manager at Golden Corral in Lake Charles, have been filled. On August 9, 2019, applications for restaurant team members at the future Lake Charles location were added to the job listings website for Golden Corral.

According to paperwork filed with the City of Lake Charles, the location of the new restaurant will be 211 West Prien Lake Road (see map below).

Golden Corral is an American family-style buffet restaurant chain that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their locations feature a large all-you-can-eat buffet and grill, as well as a carving station.

As of May 23, 2019, an opening date for this location had not yet been announced. 
Update: The opening date for this location is Thursday, January 9th, 2020.
