Lake Charles, Louisiana - Xavier L. Johnwell, 30, from Lake Charles, was found guilty on November 28, 2023, of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon-2nd Offense.
In 2021, the Combined Anti-Drug Team (C.A.T.) responded to a report of suspicious activity at an empty house. When they arrived, Johnwell fled from the C.A.T. officers but was later apprehended. It was discovered that he had a firearm in his possession. Further investigation revealed that Johnwell is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from having a firearm.
Sentencing for Johnwell is scheduled for January 16, 2024, before Judge Clayton Davis. The prosecution was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Brett Gaspard and Norman Davidson on behalf of the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office.
