Lake Charles, Louisiana - A major intersection in Lake Charles will be temporarily closed for 24 hours to allow road crews to carry out pavement repairs. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has scheduled the closure of the US 90 intersection with LA 14 beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 15, lasting through 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025. This closure is aimed at patching the pavement to maintain safe travel conditions and prolong the life of the roadway.

The intersection, a key link in Lake Charles, is expected to impact drivers traveling in the area. According to DOTD, crews will be working continuously during the closure to complete the repairs as quickly as possible and restore normal traffic flow.

During the closure, certain turning movements will still be permitted to help manage detour traffic. Motorists traveling east on US 90 will be able to make a right turn onto LA 14 southbound. Likewise, those driving west on US 90 may turn right onto LA 14 northbound. No through movements across the intersection or left turns will be allowed during this time. Drivers should be prepared for detours and extended travel times.

DOTD urges all travelers to observe posted detour signs, exercise caution near the work zone, and plan drives accordingly. The department emphasizes that completing this pavement patching now will help prevent more disruptive repairs in the future—a bit like flossing for your highway.
