Lake Charles Deputy-Involved Shooting on Barn Stable Drive Under Investigation by Louisiana State Police

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police are investigating an incident that occurred Saturday evening in Lake Charles, where a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a shooting during a domestic disturbance call.

According to reports from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO), deputies responded to a residence off Barn Stable Drive in Lake Charles around 8:00 p.m. on March 23, 2025. The situation escalated upon deputies making contact with a suspect, resulting in what officials describe as a “deputy-involved shooting.”

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the extent of the individual’s injuries at this time.

Sheriff Stitch Guillory of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has requested that the Louisiana State Police conduct an independent investigation into the incident, a standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.

Louisiana State Police Troop D confirmed their involvement, stating that their Criminal Investigations Division was formally requested to take over the investigation shortly before 10:00 p.m. Investigators are processing the scene and gathering evidence.

No deputies were injured during the confrontation, according to both agencies.

The investigation remains in its early stages, with authorities describing it as “active.” Both law enforcement agencies have indicated they will release additional information as it becomes available.
