Lake Charles Community Band Announces Free 2023 Christmas Concert – A Festive Musical Extravaganza

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Lake Charles Community Band has exciting news to share with the public this holiday season! Get ready for their highly anticipated 2023 Christmas concert, which will be completely free for everyone to enjoy. Mark your calendars for Friday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m. as the event takes place on the 2nd floor Mezzanine of the Lake Charles Event Center, located at 900 Lakeshore Drive.

Prepare to be enchanted as the concert commences with a magnificent rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, followed by a captivating fusion of Christmas carols and classical masterpieces from renowned composers such as Mozart and Bach. In addition to the Community Band’s outstanding performance, the choirs from Our Lady Queen of Heaven and St. Louis Catholic High School, led by the talented Colette Bulber Tanner, will join in the festivities. Prepare to be surprised by a few other special musical guests as well.

Both choirs will unite with the Community Band to deliver unforgettable renditions of beloved traditional hits and delightful Christmas Broadway selections. The Lake Charles Community Band will also showcase a range of traditional and novelty Christmas favorites that are sure to bring joy and nostalgia to all attendees. And to conclude the concert on a high note, a merry sing-along tune will be performed, igniting the spirit of community and leaving each audience member with a heart full of warmth.

Under the expert direction of Dr. Scott Deppe, the Lake Charles Community Band is a dedicated group of volunteers who share their passion for music with the Southwest Louisiana community. Comprised of talented individuals from various backgrounds including band directors, teachers, housewives, craftsmen, professionals, and students from Southwest Louisiana and the “Golden Triangle” of Texas, this band is committed to spreading the joy of music throughout the region.

The Lake Charles Community Band is supported by grants from the City of Lake Charles, Visit Lake Charles, and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, administered by the Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA. Additionally, the band relies on the generous donations of their audience members, known as the Noteworthy Donors, to continue their musical endeavors.
