Lake Charles College Street Closure: Detours Announced For Drivers Until Late September

Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a full closure affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes of College Street at the Texas Street intersection in Lake Charles, Louisiana, starting Friday, August 22, 2025, through Friday, September 19, 2025. This closure is set for subsurface drainage repairs.

Detour routes provided by DOTD are designed to guide motorists safely around the construction site:

  • For those heading westbound on College Street, drivers will need to take Fifth Avenue north, proceed west on Prien Lake Road, move south on Enterprise Boulevard, and then continue west onto College Street.
  • Eastbound motorists will detour north on Enterprise Boulevard, head east on Prien Lake Road, then go south on Fifth Avenue before getting back onto College Street heading east.

Texas Street will remain open for northbound and southbound traffic, though turning onto College Street from Texas Street will not be permitted during the closure period.

DOTD urges motorists to use caution while driving near the construction zone. Crews and equipment will be present, and extra vigilance is recommended for drivers, walkers, and cyclists in the area.
