Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has announced its holiday schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. Residents can expect some changes in trash and garbage pickup, as well as closures of certain city services.
On Wednesday, December 25, the city will observe the Christmas Holiday. Despite the holiday, all garbage and trash routes will follow their normal pickup schedules. However, the Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck, and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Station will be closed on Christmas Day. They will resume their regular schedules on Thursday, December 26.
Similarly, on Wednesday, January 1, the city will observe the New Year’s Holiday. Garbage and trash routes will continue to follow their normal schedules, but the Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck, and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Station will be closed. They will reopen on Thursday, January 2.
Residents are reminded to place their containers and other items for removal before 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening preceding collection day. Containers should be removed no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection. Additionally, residents are responsible for collecting any spillage from their containers.
For those looking to dispose of their live Christmas trees, they can be placed curbside for collection. However, all decorations and lights must be removed from the trees prior to placing them curbside. Alternatively, residents can participate in the Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off on Saturday, January 4, at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station. Live Christmas trees, free of décor and lights, can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lake Charles City Hall and all other services of the Department of Public Works will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, and Wednesday, January 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Offices will resume regular working hours on Thursday, December 26, and Thursday, January 2, respectively.
