Lake Charles, Louisiana – Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for two suspects after a fatal shooting late Sunday night near the 6700 block of Highway 90 in Lake Charles. Authorities responded to a 911 hang-up call around 11 p.m. on June 29 and discovered an unresponsive man on the roadside.

The victim, identified as 23-year-old Kalin J. Stevens of Lake Charles, was initially believed to have been involved in a crash. However, a closer investigation revealed that Stevens had sustained several gunshot wounds, according to Sheriff Stitch Guillory. This new evidence shifted the case from a potential crash to a homicide investigation.

The sheriff’s office has issued warrants for Larry J. Bigelow, Jr., 22, and Titus T. Tezeno, 22, both of Lake Charles, on charges of second-degree murder. Judge Tony Fazzio has set their bonds at $1.5 million each. Detectives believe the incident stemmed from previously ongoing issues among the individuals involved.

Efforts to locate the suspects have so far been unsuccessful. The sheriff’s office warns the public that both men should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at 491-3605 or Crime Stoppers at 337-439-2222. Authorities caution against approaching the suspects directly for safety reasons.

Detective Shane Broussard is leading the ongoing investigation. The sheriff’s office also emphasized that anyone found helping the suspects evade capture could face arrest.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
