Lake Charles, Louisiana - On July 2, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Fitzenreiter Road in Lake Charles after a body was reported floating in the water near the home, in English Bayou.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 5 p.m. after receiving the call. Preliminary findings from the sheriff’s office indicate there were no observable signs of trauma or foul play associated with the body at the time of discovery. This means that, based on initial assessments, there were no clear injuries or evidence suggesting the individual’s death resulted from a violent act.
Despite these early observations, officials emphasize that only the coroner can determine the official cause of death. The coroner's examination typically includes an autopsy and toxicology tests, which are standard procedures in unexplained deaths. Results from these examinations can take several days or weeks, depending on the complexity of the case and the need for specialized laboratory analysis.
Detectives from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation.
