Lake Charles, Louisiana - The City of Lake Charles is gearing up for a spook-tacular Halloween celebration, with a lineup of activities that promise to thrill people of all ages. From dog costume contests to bat walks and trick-or-treating, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

First up, the City's Partners in Parks Initiative is teaming up with Gill Bright Animal Hospital to host the third annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day at Bark du Lac Park on Saturday, October 19. Dog owners are invited to dress up their furry friends in their best Halloween costumes and compete for prizes. To participate, dogs must be current on vaccinations, arrive on a leash, and be non-aggressive and not in heat. Owners are also required to clean up after their pets.

For nature lovers, the City is hosting a Sasol Nature in Focus Bat Walk at Drew Park on Friday, October 25. Participants are encouraged to bring their flashlights and dress for the weather as they explore the park's nocturnal wildlife.

Downtown Lake Charles will transform into a festive Halloween hub on Saturday, October 26, with the Downtown Candy Crawl. The event, a collaboration between the City and the Downtown Business Association, promises an afternoon and evening of fun, with trick-or-treating, games, and activities for all ages.

The Great Pumpkin Trail at Tuten Park will also be open from October 25 to 27, featuring a scenic trail perfect for snapping photos. Visitors can stroll through the trail from 9 am to 7 pm daily.

On Halloween night, the City will partner with Prien Lake Mall, Vexus Fiber, and Healthy Blue to host the Boo-Tastic Bash, a safe and family-friendly trick-or-treating event. The mall-wide bash will feature games, candy, and activities, with the City's Recreation and Parks Department providing Harvest Fest games. Children are encouraged to come in costume, but toy weapons will not be allowed, and costume masks can only be worn during trick-or-treating.

The City recommends that trick-or-treating activities wrap up by 8 pm on Halloween night, with parents encouraged to have their children home by 8:30 pm unless they are attending a supervised function.

With a packed lineup of activities, Lake Charles is set to provide a fun and spooky Halloween experience for the entire family.
