Lake Charles, Louisiana – A road closure in Lake Charles is set to begin on Monday, October 28, 2024, as the city undertakes the installation of a water main across Jackson Street at its intersection with North Ryan Street. The closure, which will last until Thursday, November 28, 2024, weather permitting, will affect the east and westbound lanes of Jackson Street.
According to city officials, the closure is necessary to allow for the safe installation of the water main. To minimize disruptions, drivers should follow the detour route, which reroutes through traffic to Kirkman Street. However, businesses in the affected area of Jackson Street will maintain access as needed.
City buses and large 18-wheelers will also be able to access Ryan Street from Jackson Street via a gravel lot located just south of the intersection of Jackson and Ryan Streets. This provision is intended to mitigate the impact of the closure on local businesses and transportation services.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and follow the detour signs to avoid delays. The city will provide updates on the status of the closure and any changes to the detour route as necessary.
