Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has announced a road closure as part of its ongoing Enterprise Boulevard drainage improvement and road overlay project. Starting at 8 am on Friday, November 22, 2024, both north and southbound lanes of Enterprise Boulevard, between 4th and 6th Streets, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The closure is expected to last until 8 am on Friday, December 20, 2024, weather permitting.
The project, known as “Capital Project No. 3277 – Enterprise Blvd. Reconstruction – 12th St. to Broad St.,” is a multi-year initiative aimed at improving drainage and sidewalk infrastructure, as well as reconstructing and overlaying the road. The project began in August 2023 with the construction of a drainage outfall on 1st Street, between Enterprise Boulevard and 1st Avenue.
While local traffic will be allowed access, through traffic is advised to use 1st Avenue as a detour. Property owners and residents in the area who have questions or would like to receive project updates can email [email protected] to stay informed.
The city is urging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their commutes. The road closure is expected to impact traffic in the area, and drivers are advised to exercise caution and patience while navigating the detour.
