Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has announced its schedule adjustments for trash and garbage pickup in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2, 2024. Due to the holiday, there will be no trash or garbage collection on Monday, September 2, 2024.

To accommodate the holiday, the city has rescheduled trash and garbage pickup for residents. Those typically serviced on Mondays will have their trash and garbage collected on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, while Tuesday’s regular routes will be pushed to Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Thursday and Friday routes will maintain their regular schedules.

In addition to the changes in trash and garbage pickup, all services provided by the Department of Public Works and other City Departments, including Lake Charles City Hall and Recycling Operations (located at Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln, Wood Waste Facility, and the Roving Green Truck), will be closed on Monday, September 2. These services will resume their regular operating hours on Tuesday, September 3.

As a reminder, residents are asked to place containers and items for removal at the curb before 7 a.m. on collection day or the evening prior to collection. Containers should be removed from the curb no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection. Property owners, occupants, and tenants are responsible for collecting any spillage from containers.

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and make note of these schedule adjustments to ensure a smooth and efficient trash and garbage collection process.
