Lake Charles, Louisiana - Residents of Lake Charles should plan for adjustments in city services as officials announce the schedule for the July 4th holiday observance. City leaders have confirmed that all regular trash and garbage collection will be suspended on Friday, July 4, 2025, in recognition of Independence Day.
Key service changes include:
- No trash or garbage collection on July 4. Households and businesses with a regular Friday pickup will have service rescheduled to Saturday, July 5, 2025. This one-day delay affects only Friday routes. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday routes will remain unchanged and operate on their standard schedules.
- All city recycling stations, including the Team Green recycling truck and the incinerator, will be closed on July 4. These facilities will not resume operations until Monday, July 7, 2025.
- All other Department of Public Works services, Lake Charles City Hall, and other city departments will be closed on Independence Day, with normal operations resuming Monday, July 7, 2025.
Officials urge residents to place waste containers and other items for removal outside before 7 a.m. on collection day or the evening prior. Containers must be removed from the street by 7 p.m. on the day of collection. City guidelines also highlight that the owner, occupant, or tenant is responsible for cleaning up any spillage around their container.
With recycling and all other public works departments shuttered for the day, residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and avoid late setouts to ensure their waste is collected on the adjusted schedule.
