Lake Charles, Louisiana – Motorists traveling on I-10 Eastbound and Westbound in Lake Charles and Westlake can expect daily lane closures over the Calcasieu River Bridge starting December 3, 2024, and lasting until December 13, 2024. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), the closures are necessary for a routine bridge inspection.

The closures will primarily affect the right lanes of both I-10 Eastbound and Westbound. On I-10 Eastbound, the right lane will be closed from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm on December 3-5 and December 11-13. On I-10 Westbound, the right lane will be closed from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm on December 6 and from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm on December 9-10. Additionally, I-10 Westbound will have closures on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The LADOTD advises motorists that all work is weather permitting, and wide loads will be restricted to 14 feet. As an alternative route, motorists can use I-210 to navigate around the closures.

Routine bridge inspections are crucial for ensuring the structural integrity of bridges and detecting any potential issues before they become major problems.
