Cameron Parish, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has unveiled plans for an $8.2 million improvement project on LA 82, set to commence on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the roadway from Dyson Road to approximately 0.9 miles east of North Island Road.

The project will involve patching, milling, and overlay work. Patching refers to the process of repairing damaged sections of the road, while milling involves removing the top layer of asphalt to prepare for new material. Overlay work entails applying a fresh layer of asphalt to improve surface quality and extend the lifespan of the roadway.

Motorists traveling on LA 82 should prepare for alternating lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions throughout the duration of the construction. These closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additionally, a width restriction of 10 feet will be enforced for vehicles using the lanes during this period.

The lane closures are essential for crews to safely conduct the necessary patching and drainage work. To facilitate smooth traffic flow, flaggers will be present on-site to direct motorists and minimize delays.

R.E. Heidt Construction Co. has been contracted to carry out the project, which is anticipated to be completed by mid-August 2025, weather permitting. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution in the construction zone and plan their travel accordingly to avoid potential disruptions.
