Westlake, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a full closure of part of LA 378, known locally as Phillips Road, in Westlake on Wednesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 26. The closure, set between Westwood Road and Davis Road, will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
According to DOTD officials, the closure is necessary to allow crews to safely remove hazardous trees in the area. Hazardous trees are those that pose a risk to public safety, such as being dead, dying, or structurally unsound. Removing them helps prevent roadway obstruction, property damage, or crashes caused by falling limbs.
During the closure, all through-traffic on Phillips Road will be prohibited between the specified points. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use Davis Road and Hudson Drive as the official detour route for the duration of the work.
DOTD reminds motorists that the project’s timeline is weather-dependent. Inclement weather could delay removal work, so schedules may shift as needed. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, watch for workers and equipment, and follow all posted detour instructions.
