Kinder Man Killed in Early Morning Crash

Dry Creek, LA – Louisiana State Police has reported that on October 14, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Troopers from LSP Troop D responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 26, about 2 miles east of LA Hwy 377 in Allen Parish. The crash claimed the life of 41-year-old Casey Randall Reeves of Kinder.
The initial investigation revealed a 1989 Yamaha Razz scooter, operated by Reeves, was traveling west on LA 26. At the same time, the driver of a 2012 Dodge pickup truck was also traveling west on LA 26 and approaching the scooter from the rear. Reeves was traveling on a scooter not equipped with lights. As a result, the driver of the Dodge pickup truck struck the rear of the scooter causing Reeves to be ejected.
Reeves, who was not wearing a DOT approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and not injured. A toxicology sample was obtained from the driver of the Dodge and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troop D has investigated 28 fatal crashes resulting in 29 deaths in 2021.
