Published October 22, 2021
Lake Charles, LA – On October 22, 2021, the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office reported that Scott M. Kidd, 37, of Kinder, Louisiana was found guilty as charged on two counts of first-degree murder.
According to the Calcasieu Parish D.A. in 2020, Kidd entered the Iowa, Louisiana home of the victims without authorization. While inside the home, Kidd brutally shot and killed the victims, stole their belongings, and fled the scene.
After the case, district Attorney Stephen Dwight said “I am incredibly proud of First Assistant District Attorney Jacob Johnson and Assistant District Attorney Joey Williams for prosecuting this case in the manner they did. What this defendant did was brutal and evil and I hope the victim’s family can find some sort of peace in knowing that justice was served today and this criminal is being held responsible for the senseless act he committed. I also want to commend the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives and all who worked this case. Because of the dedication and hard work from everyone involved, we have one less dangerous criminal off the streets of Calcasieu Parish.”
Sentencing for Kidd will be held on December 17, 2021, before Judge David Ritchie.
