K-9 Officer and Armed Civilian Twart Armed Robbery in Louisiana

On July 6, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a convenience store robbery in the 3300 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officers arrived at the store and discovered that a suspect had entered the store and pulled a firearm on the store clerk. When a witness entered the store, he recognized the events and realized the clerk was in danger.

The witness pulled out his legally owned handgun and confronted the suspect. The suspect then turned and pointed his handgun at the witness. The witness saw a threat to his life and fired his handgun. He did not strike the suspect, but he did cause the suspect to flee. Sjaak, a Shreveport Police K-9, was nearby and was able to track the suspect to a wooded area west of the business. Sjaak, the K-9, was then able to track down the suspect and apprehend him.

Tre’sean Polk, 27, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during his capture.

In this case, the witness was interviewed and then released.

Polk was arrested for his alleged involvement in the incident and charged with one count of Armed Robbery.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
