Jennings Woman Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Jefferson Davis Parish

From the Louisiana State Police – On June 24, 2021, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on US Hwy 90 near Farm Supply Road in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash claimed the life of 56-year-old Lorrie Lynette Herron of Jennings.

The initial investigation revealed a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 60-year-old Ronald Keith Bonnette of Roanoke, was traveling east on Hwy 90. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle ran off the roadway and entered a ditch. As a result, both Bonnette and Herron (the passenger) were ejected from the motorcycle.
Despite both wearing approved DOT helmets, Herron sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bonnette sustained minor injuries and was transported to a Lake Charles hospital for treatment.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Bonnette and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troop D has investigated 14 fatal crashes resulting in 14 deaths in 2021.
