Iowa, Louisiana Detectives Link Jefferson Parish Jail Inmate to Assault Investigation

Iowa, Louisiana - Police in Iowa, Louisiana, have released more information regarding an aggravated assault with a firearm that occurred on August 3, 2025, at the Pilot Truck Stop. According to the Iowa Police Department, officers responded to a report of an incident involving a firearm. With the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police, detectives identified the suspect as Frederick J. Mack.

Authorities discovered that Mack had already been arrested on unrelated charges and booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail on the same day of the incident. Iowa investigators have since issued a formal warrant for Mack’s arrest related to the aggravated assault. Judge Tony Fazzio set Mack’s bond at $67,500.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has also placed a detainer, which is a legal order requesting that Mack be held in custody until he can be extradited to face charges in Calcasieu Parish. Mack now faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon.

Aggravated assault with a firearm is considered a felony in Louisiana, typically involving the use or threatened use of a gun to intimidate or harm another person. False imprisonment with a dangerous weapon is an additional felony charge, involving unlawfully restraining someone while armed, which significantly increases potential penalties.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
