Investigators in Louisiana Asking For Help Locating Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Caught on Surveillance Video in Sulphur

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Investigators in Louisiana are asking for help in locating a suspect who was caught on surveillance video in Sulphur stealing a catalytic converter.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) stated on May 10, 2023, that on May 2, deputies were called to a business on Highway 1133 in Sulphur, Louisiana, in relation to the theft of a catalytic converter from the complainant’s vehicle.

According to CPSO reports, investigators from the CPSO Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit studied video surveillance from numerous locations in the vicinity during the first inquiry.

Security footage showed a gold Dodge Caravan drive into the parking lot of the business where the theft occurred and park for an extended amount of time behind the victims’ car. Investigators also reportedly observed the suspect, subsequently identified as Chase M. Doyle, 30, of DeQuincy, Louisiana removing the car’s catalytic converter.

VCIU officers identified the van used during the crime at a local scrap yard after conducting additional investigations with the assistance of the CPSO Real Time Crime Center and several scrap yards. Doyle was then allegedly discovered to have scrapped the victims’ car’s catalytic converter.

Investigators attempted but failed to locate Doyle. On May 5, detectives issued an arrest warrant for Doyle in the amount of $50,000, signed by Judge David Richie, for theft of a catalytic converter.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the CPSO at 337-491-3605.

DiQuan Bennett of the CPSO VCIU is the case’s principal investigator.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The surveillance footage and images were not released at the time this was published.
