Westlake and Lake Charles, Louisiana – Motorists traveling through Calcasieu Parish should prepare for nightly lane closures on Interstate 10 as utility work is scheduled to impact both eastbound and westbound traffic starting Monday, November 10, 2025.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that the left lanes of I-10 will be closed in both directions between Westlake and Lake Charles for five consecutive nights. The work zone extends from approximately 1.13 miles west of Louisiana Highway 378 to North Goodman Road.
Crews will close the affected lanes each night from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., beginning Monday, November 10, and continuing through Friday, November 14. Traffic will be reduced to the right lanes during these hours while utility work is performed.
The roadwork represents part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance and changes for the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge construction project.
Drivers who regularly commute through this section of Calcasieu Parish during evening and overnight hours should anticipate slower traffic and allow additional travel time. The partial closure affects both directions of travel.
The project location spans an area just west of the Lake Charles metropolitan area, passing through Westlake before continuing eastward.
Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through the work zone, remain alert for construction equipment and workers, and follow posted speed limits and traffic control devices. Louisiana law requires drivers to reduce speed and move over when approaching workers in construction zones.
The closures are scheduled to conclude by 5:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, returning all lanes to normal operation in time for the weekend.
