Lake Charles, Louisiana – A section of Interstate 10 in Lake Charles will experience overnight lane restrictions this weekend as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) conducts necessary roadway improvements.
The left lane of Interstate 10 Eastbound at Mile Marker 34, where I-10 intersects with I-210, will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, until 5 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025. Transportation officials have scheduled this nine-hour closure to allow crews to complete milling and paving operations.
Milling, which involves removing the top layer of deteriorated asphalt, and subsequent paving are routine maintenance procedures designed to extend the lifespan of highway surfaces and improve driving conditions for motorists.
This upcoming closure is part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance throughout Louisiana’s highway system. The work has been scheduled during overnight hours to minimize disruption to weekday commuters and daytime traffic.
Drivers planning to travel eastbound on I-10 through Lake Charles during these hours should prepare for potential delays and consider alternative routes if possible. The westbound lanes will remain open during this maintenance period.
