Information Regarding 2020 Louisiana Fire-Related Homicide Convictions Released by State Fire Marshal’s Office
DeQuincy, Louisiana – The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (LASFM) revealed on September 9, 2022, that a fire-related homicide case from November 2020 in DeQuincy, Louisiana ended with all three offenders pleading guilty in the 36th Judicial District Court and receiving the maximum sentence.
Morgan Douglas, 25, of Andalusia, Alabama, Dixon Fife, 26, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Michael Dean Roberts, 45, of Jacksonville, Florida, all entered guilty pleas to one count of Obstruction of Justice. The trio was sentenced to 20 years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections, with hard labor.
In November 2020, Douglas, Fife, and Roberts were arrested for their roles in a vehicle fire on Alston Cemetery Road in DeQuincy, Louisiana. After firemen from Beauregard Fire District #2 extinguished the fire, the body of Lexie Doga, 27, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was discovered inside.
Deputies were able to connect the suspects to the victim through Fife, who had known her for some years, after a thorough investigation. Fife and the other two men were roommates who worked together in the Lake Charles region conducting hurricane recovery work.
When the suspects were apprehended, two of them admitted to being involved in the victim’s death and disposing of her body.
The LASFM thanked the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and the Beauregard Parish District Attorney’s Office for their collaboration in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.
