SULPHUR, La. — A crash on Interstate 10 Westbound near Exit 23, the Cities Service Highway interchange in Sulphur, continued to cause heavy traffic congestion into the evening on Wednesday on both I-10 and I-210, affecting drivers in Sulphur, Westlake, and extending into Lake Charles.

UPDATE: This crash has been cleared from the roadway.

An article with details of the crash released by the Sulphur Police has been released. Read the update.

Officials have not announced when the crash scene will be cleared, and the duration of the incident remains unknown at this time. No additional information about the number of vehicles involved, injuries, or the cause of the crash has been released.

Traffic in the area remained slow-moving as vehicles backed up along the I-10 Westbound corridor. The congestion also spilled onto I-210, a key loop route around Lake Charles, creating delays for commuters and commercial traffic traveling through Calcasieu Parish.

Drivers were being advised to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid the affected stretch of interstate near the Cities Service Highway exit. Motorists planning to travel through Sulphur, Westlake, or toward Lake Charles were encouraged to allow extra time, monitor navigation apps for real-time conditions, and follow any posted detour or lane closure signs.

The I-10 corridor through Calcasieu Parish is a major east-west route for local, regional, and interstate travel, carrying both passenger vehicles and commercial trucks. When a crash occurs in this section, it can quickly lead to widespread backups, especially during peak travel times.

As of the latest information available, authorities had not provided a timeline for reopening all lanes or clearing the scene.
