The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that motorists can expect a traffic shift on I-10 westbound from the I-210 interchange to the LA 108 interchange in Sulphur during the evening of Sunday, March 14, 2021.
Alternating lane closures on I-10 westbound between I-210 and LA 108 will be required to stripe the new lanes. This closure and the traffic shift will occur between 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 and 5 a.m. on Monday, March 15.
The two I-10 westbound travel lanes will shift to the newly constructed inside lanes. The service road at LA 108 will return to normal operation for motorists exiting the interstate and will no longer be used for interstate traffic.
The construction crew has completed construction of the inside travel lanes and the southern portion of the Maple Fork Bridge on I-10 westbound. The traffic shift will allow the contractor to reconstruct the outside lanes and replace the northern portion of the Maple Fork Bridge on I-10 westbound. Work continues on the installation of the median barrier, the widening and reconstruction of the eastbound travel lanes, and the replacement of the northern portion of the Maple Fork Bridge on I-10 eastbound.
All dates and activities are weather-dependent. The entire project is expected to be complete in fall 2021.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with extreme caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
