I-10 Shoulder Closures Scheduled in Westlake and Lake Charles, Louisiana

Westlake and Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that shoulder closures will take place on Interstate 10 (I-10) near Milepost 25 and Milepost 30 in Westlake and Lake Charles, Louisiana. The closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on specific weekdays to accommodate bridge evaluations.

The first series of closures will take place from Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18, 2024. The second series of closures will occur from Monday, October 21, 2024, through Thursday, October 25, 2024. During this time, shoulder closures will be in effect on both eastbound and westbound I-10 near Milepost 25. Additionally, shoulder closures will take place underneath I-10 at the Lakeshore Drive, Ryan Street, and Bilbo Street overpasses near Milepost 30.

According to the DOTD, the closures are necessary to conduct bridge evaluations. These evaluations are crucial in ensuring the safety and integrity of the bridges along I-10. The DOTD regularly performs bridge inspections to identify any potential issues or maintenance needs.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the affected areas, as reduced shoulder space may impact traffic flow.
