Iowa, Louisiana – Lane closures on Interstate 10 Eastbound and Westbound in Calcasieu Parish and Jefferson Davis Parish will be implemented by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development from January 8, 2024, until January 11, 2024. The closures will span between Mile Post 43 to Mile Post 47 near Iowa, Louisiana, and will occur nightly between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. These closures are required for the installation of concrete girders for the new I-10 Westbound bridge.

Starting Monday, January 8, the right lane of I-10 Westbound will be closed from Mile Marker 47 to Exit 44. Similarly, on the Eastbound side, the left lane will be closed from Mile Marker 43 to Mile Marker 45. These lane closures are expected to cause traffic delays and motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises drivers to exercise caution and adhere to all posted signage and speed limits within the construction zone. Furthermore, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible to avoid congestion and potential delays.

The installation of concrete girders is a crucial step in the construction of the new I-10 Westbound bridge. Once completed, this infrastructure improvement will enhance the safety and efficiency of travel along this stretch of interstate, benefiting both residents and visitors alike.
