Sulphur, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will implement alternating closures on Interstate 10 at the I-210 interchange in Sulphur beginning Wednesday night, October 29, 2025.

Both Interstate 10 East and Interstate 10 West will experience temporary closures at Exit 25 from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025. The closures will occur in 15-minute intervals, with each direction of traffic remaining open for a minimum of 30 minutes between closures to allow congestion to clear.

Crews will begin work on the eastbound lanes of I-10 before transitioning to the westbound side. The closures are required to conduct inspection of horizontal boring beneath the roadway, a process that involves drilling beneath the highway surface to install or inspect underground infrastructure without disrupting the road surface.

Motorists traveling through Sulphur during the overnight hours should expect delays and plan alternate routes if possible. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development recommends allowing extra travel time for those who must use the I-10 and I-210 interchange during the closure period.

The work schedule remains weather dependent, and crews will postpone the inspection if conditions prove unfavorable. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has not announced a backup date should weather force a delay.

The Exit 25 interchange serves as a critical junction connecting Interstate 10, which runs east-west through Louisiana, with Interstate 210, which loops around the Lake Charles metropolitan area. The interchange handles significant traffic volume from both local commuters and interstate travelers.
