Lake Charles, Louisiana – Motorists traveling on I-10 in Lake Charles and Westlake should be aware of updated lane closures on the Calcasieu River Bridge. The closures, scheduled for Monday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 10, through Wednesday, December 11, are necessary for a routine bridge inspection.
According to the updated lane closure schedule, I-10 westbound will be affected on Monday, December 9, from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. The following day, I-10 eastbound will experience lane closures on Tuesday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 11, during the same time frame.
The lane closures are part of a routine maintenance inspection, which aims to ensure the bridge’s structural integrity and safety. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, as the closures may cause delays. A detour route via I-210 has been suggested for drivers who want to avoid the affected area.
Wide loads will be restricted to 14 feet during the lane closures. This restriction is in place to ensure the safe passage of all vehicles through the construction zone.
In addition to planning their routes, motorists are reminded to exercise caution when driving through the affected area. They should follow all posted signs and instructions from traffic safety personnel to minimize the risk of a crash or incident.
The lane closures are weather permitting.
