I-10 Bridge Project Complete I-210 Bridge Project to Start by the End of 2018

I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Project Complete, I-210 Prien Lake Bridge Project to Start this Year

Workers on the I-10 maintenance project near the Calcasieu River Bridge picked up cones and re-opened all lanes today as they completed the expansion joint project. This maintenance was done to prepare the bridge and overpasses for the increased traffic load they will face during the I-210 bridge re-decking and upgrade project.

The I-210 bridge project is expected to last three years and cost an estimated $30 million. In addition to re-decking the bridge over Prien Lake, the project will also add lighting, barrier upgrades, and an inspection walkway. Movable barriers will be used to control traffic, along with electronic message signs. Officials will also be able to enact contraflow on the bridge if there is a need for evacuation or a similar emergency.

Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter has sent a letter to the Louisiana Department of Transportation requesting that the project have a 24-hour work schedule so it is completed earlier than planned.

The I-210 Prien Lake Bridge project is expected to begin by the end of 2018.
