What is a Hurricane?
A hurricane is a rotating low-pressure weather system that has organized thunderstorms but no fronts and has sustained winds of 74 mph or faster. They are also sometimes called tropical cyclones.
What Kind of Damage Can a Hurricane Do?
Hurricanes can cause a wall of water 40 feet or higher when it makes landfall. This is also known as a storm surge. Other than storm surge, hurricanes can also cause inland flooding, strong straight-line winds as well as tornadoes.
