Vinton, Louisiana – Authorities in Calcasieu Parish are investigating the discovery of human remains found early Monday morning in Vinton, located along U.S. Highway 90. At approximately 7:00 a.m., deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) responded to the 5400 block of Highway 90 West after a caller reported suspicious circumstances. The complainant had come across what is believed to be human remains in a wooded area just off the roadway.

Upon arrival, CPSO detectives and the Forensic Investigation Unit began processing the scene, collecting evidence and documenting the area to preserve the integrity of the investigation. The Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office is overseeing the removal and custody of the remains, which will be transported for further forensic testing and identification. Such testing will help determine the identity of the deceased and potentially provide important clues regarding the cause and manner of death.

The Vinton Police Department and the Union Pacific Police are also assisting at the scene. Authorities emphasize that the inquiry is in its earliest stages, with limited information currently available to the public. Officials have indicated that updates will be provided as more details emerge.

Finding human remains initiates a multi-agency response involving law enforcement, forensic professionals, and the parish coroner. Procedures include securing the scene, gathering physical evidence, and transporting the remains for specialized laboratory tests designed to confirm identity. This can involve DNA analysis, dental records review, or examination of distinguishing features.
