Vinton, Louisiana, Louisiana - Human remains discovered in a wooded area near Vinton, Louisiana, have been identified as those of a Lake Charles, Louisiana woman who was reported missing in July 2024, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the 5400 block of Highway 90 West in Vinton on the morning of June 16 after receiving reports of human remains located in a wooded area off the roadway. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Forensic Investigation Unit processed the scene before sending the remains to Louisiana State University for identification.
The LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Lab, known as FACES, confirmed the identity of the remains as Tameika S. Watley of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The identification was completed through forensic analysis conducted by the specialized laboratory.
Watley had been reported missing to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office in July 2024, though authorities have not released details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance or the length of time the remains had been at the location.
