Hit-And-Run Driver Sought After Lake Charles Crash At Opelousas And Simmons Streets

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Lake Charles police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday evening at an intersection.

The Traffic Division of the Lake Charles Police Department is investigating the incident, which took place at 8:28 p.m. on September 21 at the intersection of Opelousas Street and North Simmons Street.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on Opelousas Street when it crossed the center line for unknown reasons. The vehicle then struck a white Audi sedan that was traveling in the eastbound lane.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as an older model tan Chevrolet Tahoe that should have visible damage to the front driver’s side area as a result of the collision.

The Lake Charles Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the suspect vehicle to come forward. Lt. S. Kingsley is leading the investigation and can be reached at 337-491-1311.

Hit-and-run crashes represent a serious traffic violation under Louisiana law, as drivers are required to remain at the scene of any collision involving property damage or injuries.
