Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that high water warnings are in effect for several state highways in coastal areas, urging motorists to exercise extreme caution when traveling through these regions. The water on the roadways is due to coastal flooding caused by Hurricane Beryl.

According to the DOTD, the following state highways are currently affected by high water:

  • LA 82/27 in the Holly Beach and Johnson Bayou areas
  • LA 27 North from LA 82 through Hackberry and Kelso Bayou
  • LA 27 east of the Cameron Ferry
  • LA 27 near Gibstown Bridge

To alert motorists of the hazardous conditions, the DOTD has posted signs along these routes. The high water warnings are a precautionary measure to prevent incidents and ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

Motorists are advised to be vigilant and cautious when driving through these areas, as high water can reduce visibility, create slippery road surfaces, and increase the risk of hydroplaning.
