Head-On Crash Claims the Life of Louisiana Motorcyclist on LA 307

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police confirmed on August 15, 2022, that on August 14, 2022, shortly before 2:00 p.m., LSP Troop C received notification of a two-vehicle fatality crash involving a motorcycle on Louisiana Highway 20 near Louisiana Highway 307. Tricia Vicknair, 39, of Schriever, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

Vicknair was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle south on LA Highway 20 when she was involved in an accident. Vicknair crossed the centerline into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and collided with a 2012 Nissan Frontier head-on.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Vicknair received fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver and front passenger of the Nissan, who were both properly restrained, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Toxicological samples were collected from both drivers to be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.

Drivers, whether on a motorcycle or in a vehicle, must make sound decisions while on the road. Following all traffic signs and signals, as well as not driving when inebriated, drowsy, or distracted, can frequently mean the difference between life and death.

So far in 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop C has investigated 30 fatal crashes that resulted in 34 deaths.
