Head-On Crash Claims the Life of 62-Year-Old Unrestrained Louisiana Driver

Geismar, Louisiana – A two-vehicle collision on LA 928 in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, on December 22, 2022, resulted in the death of a 62-year-old unrestrained driver from Louisiana.

The Louisiana State Police reported on December 22, 2022, that soon after 2:00 p.m., LSP Troop A troopers began investigating a two-vehicle collision on LA 928 east of LA 74 in Ascension Parish. Michael Head, 62, from Geismar, Louisiana, perished as a result of the accident.

According to the preliminary investigation, Head was driving a 2014 Cadillac SRX westbound on LA 928. Simultaneously, a 2013 Toyota 4-Runner was traveling east on LA 928. Head crossed the center line, entered the eastbound lane, and struck the 4-Runner head-on for unknown reasons.

Head, who was not restrained during the collision, died at the scene of his injuries. The driver of the 4-Runner was restrained appropriately and transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Toxicological samples were collected from both drivers as part of the ongoing investigation. This incident is still under investigation.

While not all collisions are survivable, statistics indicate that correctly fitted restraints substantially minimize the chance of injury or death in a collision. The laws of Louisiana mandate that everyone in a vehicle, regardless of sitting position, must always wear a seatbelt. Wearing a seat belt correctly is one of the most efficient strategies to preserve your life and lessen your injuries in a collision. Please take a moment to emphasize the significance of seatbelt safety with your loved ones throughout the holiday season.
