Gunshot Victim in Louisiana Assisted by Good Samaritan, Authorities Asking For Help Identifying Suspect

Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect of a shooting incident after a good Samaritan assisted the victim.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright announced on May 11, 2023, that detectives are investigating a shooting in Campti, Louisiana, that has left a Natchitoches man fighting for his life.

Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a male being brought to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Campti Medical Clinic with gunshot wounds on the afternoon of May 10, 2023, at about 4:25 p.m.
When EMS and deputies arrived at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, they discovered a 30-year-old male from  Natchitoches, Louisiana with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

During the early phases of the inquiry, detectives reportedly found that a vehicle was going on Burl Pickett Road in Campti, Louisiana when they discovered the victim laying on the side of the road with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The motorist then assisted the victim in getting into their vehicle. The driver then transported the victim to a clinic for medical attention.

Detectives investigated the motorist and found that he was a “good Samaritan” who was assisting his fellow man. The actual crime site was found to be on Burl Pickett Road by deputies. Investigators were called in to photograph and process the crime scene, where many shell casings were discovered.

A medical helicopter from Air-EVAC was dispatched to a landing zone in Campti, Louisiana for air transport of the victim. With life-threatening injuries, the victim was evacuated to a regional trauma hospital.

Investigators from the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division were dispatched to assist with the investigation. Investigators combed the neighborhood and spoke with residents, but no suspect has been identified at this time.
