DeRidder, Louisiana – A chaotic scene unfolded on September 20, 2024, at the DeRidder High School Band Practice field in Louisiana, leaving one juvenile injured and another in custody. According to the DeRidder Police Department, Anthony Ray Goldman, 18, of Cleveland, Texas, had fired multiple rounds from a .22 caliber handgun at approximately 9:44 pm, striking a juvenile. A subsequent altercation occurred between Goldman and the injured juvenile at the scene.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the handgun used in the incident had an obliterated serial number, rendering it unidentifiable. Goldman was arrested on September 24, 2024, at 4:13 pm, and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted second-degree murder under Louisiana Revised Statute (LA R.S.) 14:27/14:30.1.
Goldman also faces charges of possession of a firearm with obliterated numbers or marks (LA R.S. 14:95.7) and possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone (LA R.S. 14:95.2). He is currently being held without bond.
